My Approach
I hold a fundamental belief that people are resilient and capable of working through problems particularly when they have caring support. We get stuck because we develop faulty self-talk, are burdened by stress, fail to develop clear goals and behavior for ourselves, don’t have a clear sense of purpose, or sometimes hang with the wrong people.
I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy and attend to the connections between your thoughts, emotions, physical well-being, and networks of close relationships. To make the most of your therapy, we would agree on “homework” between sessions. This helps you to practice what you learn, to change behaviors that are not working, and to experiment with how to get back to your best self.
Therapeutic success occurs because we build a trusting relationship, because you feel heard and understood, and because we have chosen the right treatment for your particular problem. Your current thoughts and feelings will be respected. It is usually less important to revisit past events unless they are affecting your current behavior. I am not your judge; it is likely you are doing enough of that yourself. I am your therapist, coach, and cheerleader.
